From the moment I met Lisbeth Bartlett in her acting studio I knew she would change my life. She has influenced me not only as an actor, but also as a human being. With a great deal of vocal training but little to no prior acting training, Lisbeth could see how afraid I was to let myself be vulnerable, but with her guidance she has molded me into a confident and passionate actor. I came to her the summer of my senior year with one goal in mind: College Musical Theatre Auditions, but little did I know this beautiful and inspiring woman had much more in store for me. I have never seen such dedication from a teacher to her students from weekly sessions and emails, to phone calls the minute after an audition to “debrief.” Lisbeth is with you literally every step of the way, making any audition seamless and fulfilling. When delving into monologues Lisbeth is an expert at assessing her students and matching them with perfect plays and characters for who they are and what their strengths are, but she doesn’t just hand monologues to you. She drives you and makes you work harder than you ever have before, reading and exploring scores of plays in order to find the perfect material. She inspires her students and ignites a fire in them to achieve anything they set their minds to! I have found myself many times getting wrapped up into what other actors are doing, how they approach a scene, and at times I have tried to reflect their execution instead of creating my own interpretation, but Lisbeth taught me that the key to being a real actor is bring your own authentic heart and soul your characters. Lisbeth puts her heart and soul into her students sending them out with confidence and assurance that they are enough. She allowed me to be myself and be proud of exactly who I am. With Lisbeth’s help I was accepted into FOUR MAJOR MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAMS, one ranking 4th in the nation in Drama! I am so proud to be a part of the Lisbeth Bartlett Acting Studio and proud to have Lisbeth as a second mom.
