Biography

Testimonial

I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am for the acting/audition training work and friendship I created with my wonderful private acting coach, Lisbeth Bartlett, who mentored me through the BFA Musical Theater audition process. Lisbeth opened me into a world of unique, challenging plays and monologues that were specific to who I was as an individual artist. She catered to everything that made me culturally, racially, psychologically, physically and emotionally special. She helped me showcase my uniqueness. I was first recommended to Lisbeth by my voice teacher, who told me she was the best acting coach to go to for the college BFA audition process. Little did I know then that with the help of Lisbeth, I would be immersed into a world where this uber-competitive, often crazy and unpredictable process made a little more sense and became a lot less stressful. Before Lisbeth, I had never really dissected plays or monologues and/or been trained in sophisticated acting skills. Lisbeth not only helped me find my voice as an actor, but helped with all the emotional twists and turns that come with embarking on the challenging BFA audition process. Lisbeth ultimately became a lifelong friend to me, someone who welcomed me to call her after every single audition to discuss my experience. Her studio was a safe place where I could vent or cry or speak my mind when the audition process became overwhelming.

I coached with Lisbeth once a week for 90 minutes from the start of senior year through the end of my auditions the following March. Together, we would create something magical at every session. Whether that magic was finally finding the perfect cut for my monologue, taking a step forward in the rehearsal process, or just venting about acting and life in the theater, she became a rock for me during auditions. She boosted me through every “no” I received and celebrated with me when I got the wonderful “yeses!” Thanks to Lisbeth, I will move to New York City in a week to study at a top BFA Musical Theater Program in New York City with an excellent scholarship. This scholarship will substantially lessen my financial burden while studying in the artist capital of the world; that scholarship made coaching with Lisbeth worth every penny. If you need someone to guide you through this insane, stressful, happy, exciting, terrifying college BFA audition journey you have ahead, START WITH LISBETH NOW!
