Testimonial

I have completed my Masters in Musical Theater at RWCMD Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales, on a full scholarship. I thank Lisbeth for introducing me to RWCMD and for her spectacular coaching. She was instrumental in helping make this incredible opportunity happen for me as well as being accepted to Roosevelt’s BFA Musical Theatre Program, where I studied for 4 years. The moment I met Lisbeth Bartlett, during my college audition prep, I knew a very special relationship was on the rise. Her passion for watching her private acting students grow and learn was immediately apparent as she toured me through her gigantic collection of classical and contemporary plays, reading scenes with me and looking for audition monologues.

Lisbeth introduced me to Shakespeare and other classical plays that I fell in love with and pointed me towards great audition pieces that were right for me but not overdone; I had originally been planning to perform one of Juliet’s most famous soliloquies but under Lisbeth’s guidance, I chose another comic monologue from one of Shakespeare’s lesser known plays that was not overused. I fell in love with this piece and it was much more exciting to perform because I could truly “own” the piece. Lisbeth also introduced me to many fresh, new, contemporary plays, which made them hidden gems for finding striking audition pieces. Under her guidance, I chose a monologue from a brand new play that I deeply connected with.

My unique monologue choices allowed me to go to highly competitive college auditions with confidence, knowing that I would be performing material that was both perfect for me as an actress and material that other applicants would not be using. Lisbeth has an impressive background as both a professional actor and teacher. She has a unique and individualized teaching method. She was very powerful in helping me personally and deeply connect to my characters in both my songs and monologues, and handle the technical and emotional demands of both classical and contemporary material. I have now graduated from  Roosevelt’s BFA Musical Theater conservatory program and my MFA in Musical Theater at RWCMD Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales, and though I have worked with many talented instructors, I still feel Lisbeth is BY FAR the best acting teacher I have ever worked with. She is the most talented, dedicated, caring and honest teacher I have ever studied under. I strongly recommend that any acting student seeking to grow as an actor, as well as find, develop and perfect great audition material, contact Lisbeth right away!
