As a parent of an aspiring professional actor/director who lives in New Mexico, I was concerned about who could coach my daughter on a level that could assist her in securing a slot in one of the very few elite BFA college theater departments. Because I attended one of these programs myself thirty years ago, I knew first hand how competative they are. And, I also did some research and discovered that the programs were even more competitive now with record breaking numbers of students auditioning for every coveted slot. Not dissimilar to an Ivy League admission, only 5% or fewer of applicants receive a golden ticket. Although Chloe attended a great arts high school in New Mexico, I was not confident that the teachers there had specific and current knowledge that was going to be necessary to get Chloe prepared for the NYC auditions. Enter: Lisbeth Bartlett, Stage Left! Thanks to the joys of the internet, Lisbeth and I connected on Facebook. I was immediately drawn to her smart and funny style. When I found out what she did for a living, I said to my daughter “We’ve found your coach!”

Lisbeth and Chloe have never met in person. But, they had weekly coaching sessions for several months before her auditions via Skype while she was on a Rotary student exchange year in Sweden. Lisbeth sent Chloe dozens of scripts and helped her select her monologues. Tremendous care was put into which pieces would showcase her gifts and her soul on the deepest level. I am happy to report that my daughter has just been accepted at her first choice school, the BFA Acting department at Boston University, complete with a substantial talent scholarship that made it possible for our family to afford to send her there. Lisbeth played a key role at a critical juncture in my daughter’s life. She was truly her fairy godmother, lighting her path, validating her essence and supporting her strength every step of the way. Lisbeth is so much more than an acting coach. She is beyond gifted and beautiful. She is a profound soul, doing her life’s work, offering her students everything that they could possibly need to create the same for themselves. She is a rare jewel and if your child has the opportunity to work with her, they are deeply blessed. Without ever meeting her in person, my daughter and I consider her family, and we will be forever grateful and indebted to this glorious soul.
