I have always known that acting is the career path for me. From the time I was very young, I dreamed of being on stage. I always participated in school plays, summer productions, and community theatre, but as I got older, I realized that if I wanted to pursue my dream, I needed to get serious. I faced the reality that my college process would not just include essays and short answer writings, but also a slew of auditions and interviews for which I had to be on point. I was going to be looked at not only from an academic standpoint, but also from an artistic standpoint, and this prospect scared me tremendously. Though my passion for acting was refined, my skill and understanding of the craft needed some work, which is when I decided that coaching before college was definitely necessary. A friend of the family referred Lisbeth to me, and even though I was only a sophomore in high school, I decided to meet with her. From the very first time I met her, I began to learn that Lisbeth is very different from any other acting coach. Before we started even looking at pieces to work on, she wanted to know about who I was and what my interests were. She cared about my heritage, my religious beliefs, my personality, and anything that seemed to shape me. One of the best things about Lisbeth is that she did not try to create who I was into a character, or fit me into a mold of who an actor is supposed to me. She pulled pieces from her extremely versatile library, saw which ones spoke to me, and encouraged me to run with the ones that I felt the most passionate about. Lisbeth encouraged me to be my own actor, and without this kind of mentality, I do not believe I would have had the confidence to apply early decision to my first choice college of which I was accepted to. Lisbeth’s attitude towards acting, though professional when necessary, is also extremely nurturing and personal. Her love for her students is equal to her love for acting, which is infinite. Without Lisbeth, I wouldn’t be the confident acting student I am today.
