Testimonial
I’m not really sure where to begin when writing a testimonial about Lisbeth Bartlett. I’m the furthest thing from an expert writer but I can paint the picture for you about what I was like before I met Lisbeth. I was a terrified young actor who desperately wanted to get into the best BFA acting program but I had no idea where to start. One of the most difficult parts about college auditioning is finding the right material and I had no material. I came to Lisbeth that first day with absolutely nothing and left her studio with probably seventeen plays that had roles and monologues that would be perfect for me. Lisbeth has an incredible eye for seeing what types of roles particular young actors can really excel in. Soon I found many beautiful characters that I couldn’t wait to work on with her. Lisbeth taught me something that no other teacher ever even touched on which is to truly let myself feel what it is like to be another person and how this person that I am portraying has a message that can change the way an audience thinks. I never saw acting as such a powerful tool before. And because of this I dove into a particular role more deeply than I could have ever imagined and it left me with a whole new sense of why I love what I do.
In addition to Lisbeth’s phenomenal coaching, she also was my rock and emotional support throughout the emotionally gruelling process that is college auditioning. When I wanted to go to her and just cry over how hard this had become she was a comfort but also a voice of confidence that was always reassuring me that I was meant for this and that I could do it. Her voice was a light that I carried with me through all of my fourteen auditions. I am eternally grateful to her because I would not have gotten into the school of my dreams without her.
