Biography

Testimonial

I began private coaching with Lisbeth Bartlett during my freshman year in high school, both in-person, at her Philadelphia studio, and on SKYPE. I’ve been working with her for nearly 4 years now! I live in Delaware, so a combination of in-person and SKYPE was ideal, considering travel time. I found Lisbeth’s website online and pleaded with my parents to let me contact her. From the very first session, I knew Lisbeth was exactly the right coach for me. She was brilliant and supportive and kind and introduced me to a world of rich contemporary and classical plays. Whenever we looked at new plays and monologues, Lisbeth always had handfuls of scripts and characters ready for me to explore. These monologues were unique. I was able to choose my final audition monologues from dozens we had explored together, monologues I knew would not be overdone, and that were perfectly suited for me. They were age appropriate and took into account my cultural background.

Lisbeth challenged me to work hard to deeply understand every one of my audition monologues, as well as the play from which it came from, like the back of my hand so I was always ready to confidently answer with powerful insight any questions the audition panel had for me about my pieces. And Lisbeth always made herself available for extra consultation via cellphone for NO CHARGE, whether I had just finished up an audition and wanted to debrief or whether my parents and I wanted her professional opinion when we were choosing which colleges I should apply to and which college I should pick to enroll at once the admissions results came in.

Thanks to Lisbeth, I was accepted into 12 top acting programs, all with scholarships. The head of a top acting program I was accepted into with a generous scholarship, wrote to me that he loved my unique monologue choices and that my training with Lisbeth set me apart from the hundreds of other applicants. He stressed that he loved how Lisbeth and I had brought them to life in our coaching sessions. I’d also like to note that Lisbeth did not just coach me for college auditions. She also coached me on auditions for lead roles in school and community theatre, as well as auditions for internships and applications for competitive summer programs at Delaware Shakespeare Festival, NYU, etc.

One of the roles I landed with Lisbeth’s help was my dream role, Juliet in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” at Arden Shakespeare Gild. Lisbeth coached me throughout the auditions and months of rehearsal. She even drove a long way in order to attend my performance on opening night in Delaware. It was a dream come true. I cannot thank Lisbeth enough for all of the time and love she has poured into me over the years. I will miss her when I’m away at college, but I can assure you we’ll have some lovely catch-up calls! THANK YOU, LISBETH!
